2020, the Year of the Yang Metal Rat a year of change and action

Saturday, January 25th is the start of the New Year in the Chinese calendar and as the Rat is the first of the 12 Chinese Zodiac signs, it signifies the beginning of a new 12 year cycle. The Rat is therefore considered a harbinger of change.

2020 is the sign of the Yang Metal Rat and the hexagram (from the IChing) is Increase. The sign of the Yang Metal Rat depicts a ship traveling on the ocean. These images tells us that we must patiently wait to arrive at our destination and while we do, to make sure we are well prepared when we arrive.

Also… expect storms/distractions.

Because Metal also indicates a knife or sword - arguments and disagreements are very possible this year. Strong winds of change are predicted which could take small spats and fan their flames until they scatter widely - like the effects of a hurricane. So stay aware and alert and practice patience and focused intent. Do not let external discord distract you from the achievement of your goals for this year.

If you can do this you have the possibility to change your life significantly and to achieve goals that may seem out of your grasp presently. Again, make sure you stay out of arguments and drama.

Of course globally, there will be arguments and drama galore this year - which could be a good thing if the result is beneficial change but that can only happen if we hold that focus strongly through all the ups and downs.

The first 3/4s of the year will be active and chaotic but August will usher in a period of greater calm. This is a very good time for a retreat and some quiet inner contemplation. This is the time to review and perhaps adjust your goals for the year. And it is the perfect time to remember that friends and family - both personally and globally - are very very important.

The energy of this Yang Metal Rat year is very creative and it is the perfect time to pursue creative goals and/or to pursue your goals creatively. Find your personal mission for this lifetime and commit to it. 2020 promises great change through hard work and determination, it is the opportunity to become a better stronger and more compassionate person.
